I am hard as all hell on the soles, wearing the outside of the sole and heel bad until I bought some inserts, and probably from shuffling my feet.
The longest wearing sole to date is my current pair of Wolverine, low top lace up shop boots that are going on 2 years with only 1/8" of wear on the heels.
The absolute, most comfortable pair of boots I have worn are the Wolverine, oil tanned steel toe, slip on work boots with the Compressor sole, but the the soles did not last and the local boot shop said they could not be re-soled.
Leather soles wear through in less than six months.
This is the Double-H I am looking at and from the feedback posted, I will probably try a pair.
