Sorry Jim, that is an NOE clone of the Lyman 452651. Looks like about 340 grains checked & lubed.

Yes, I did. Did not enjoy it in the least. Thankfully it is gone now. Please just call me 'Mickey'....I'm named after a rat, you know.

HEE HEE. Alright Mickey I'm north of you in WV & we have the ice & snow but the state & city have equipment to handle it. Sometimes I wish for a winter place somewhere like you live.

Spent many a day in Cross Lanes at Douglas Barrels and many a day at Melvin Forbes' farm near Martin, WV. I love West Virginia! smile

I expect my traveling days are over now since I don't have anybody to baby sit the dogs and I don't like to travel a night these days.

My family worked for Douglas from the beginning. And my night driving is about over too except for preaching appointments which I will keep long as I can safely drive.

Began with instructions from a Lyman 45 reloading manual, a 10 pound Saeco pot, & a Lyman 358429 four cavity mould in 1973. Shot cast most my life I guess.

Well your pics have got me starting to think more about casting for rifle. I just got back into shooting in 2008 after my Grandfather passed away and left me a Mini-14. My father-in-law has been my mentor and got me into reloading in 2010. Last year he finally got me over my fears about casting for my handguns--but I'm still hesitant about casting for my rifles.

Casting for rifles I really no different. It's all temperature & timing. Start with softer alloy, good lube, gas check & a large enough bullet diameter wise. 50/50 lead/WW air cooled makes a fine alloy. Use 1200-1400 FPS loads & something like LARs carnuba red lube. Google C.E. Harris & read some of his stuff, that will motivate you.

And don't get discouraged if the first ones you try can't hit the inside of the barn.

once you start it gets worse.

Thank you Sir. Master is a big word. With the bullets cast most I have the mechanics down solid but it will be a learning process till I've cast my last.

Casting is 50% science and 50% artistry and that's what makes it fun.

I started out casting "tin soldiers" out of lead my buddies dad would bring home from the steel mill not too far from you. The mills regarded lead as a unwanted by product and mill workers could have whatever they wanted. They were Napoleonic soldiers. I wish I had those molds today, but guess where all those soldiers ended up...:) Those were the days.

Those are good-looking bullets that would look great sitting in the cylinder of a FA revolver.

It ain't all burritos and strippers my friends...

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.
