On a more serious note,
It is getting harder to sneak up on deals, now that Coopers are more popular. I got my first somewhere around 2000. It was a model 38 in 22 Hornet. At that time Cooper only made single shots in centerfire rifles, and mostly in varmint calibers. Guy I knew and tried to follow closely due to his impetuous nature, sold me this Cooper with the Leupold 4.5 x 14 Vari-XIII for a $1K IIRC.
I purchased this from field grade Monday IIRC
https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...03/Re_Cooper_M38Classic_17AH#Post8642003I thought this was a good deal so I jumped on it. Two sets of rings, 100 pieces of fireformed brass and a set of F/l dies.
Do the math, then look at what Cove Creek Outfitters or Michi-Gun are pricing new models at. If I were to buy local I would have to add 8.25% tax. Shipping and FFL transfer fee on this transaction work out to about 4%.
Best,
GWB
