I have 2000 rounds of Winchester Hyper Speed Rimfire Ammunition 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Plated Lead Hollow Point on hold for me to buy at a local store.$125.00

I have never used this ammo. Is it any good for accurate target practice ammo? I am use to Federal or CCI. How does it compare?

I can't comment for sure, but typically wanting target accuracy you need to get target ammo, not high speed hunting/plinking ammo.

But if you'd put up your accuracy desires, maybe some that have shot it can offer some input.

$31.25 per brick (500 rounds). Not bad these days.

Winchester Super-X High Velocity Ammunition 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Power-Point Lead Hollow Point

Has anyone used this type? Pro/cons. Will be used for target practice

Usually the Power Point's are very accurate, often as accurate as some target ammo.

Most of Winchester's rimfires in 50 or 100 per box packages are very good. Their bulk packs, unlike some others, are usually decent or better.

Power Points and Dyna Points are excellent small game rounds, and if game is ever on the agenda I think it best and fairest to practice with the same rounds. Power Points for me.

The Ruger 77/22 I have shoots it very well. I was astonished how well it shot compared to other non-target ammo used. I have noted other individuals liking it as well and was talking to one guy about the accuracy and my theory was the ammo was Lubaloy coated. grin

No one can really answer that for you, since every 22 is different in what loads it prefers.

The fact it shoots great in one doesn't mean it will group well in another.

It's a good price though, so you'll find out soon enough it it's "accurate"

Good accuracy with Power Points. Groups about double in size with hyper stuff.

I should have provided more details in my first post. When I said Power Points are "usually" very accurate, that meant they've been the most accurate hollow-point .22 ammo in several different rifles and handguns. They're my hollow-point .22 Long Rifle ammo of choice, which is why I have a few bricks squirreled away.

I have tried various brands of 22 HP hunting ammo in my Ruger 10-22 T rifle and found the Winchester HP PP to be the most accurate. I also found X22LRPP to be accurate in my other 22 rifles. The published MV is 1,280 ft/sec, ME is 146 ft/lb with the 40 GR HP bullet BC at 0.110 . I zero my 22 RF rifles at 60 yards which give me a point blank range to 80 yards that I like for shooting prairie dogs and small game.

Normally the low velocity, under sonic, are more accurate that the high velocity loads.

I would go with the super x always been a good performer in my 22's . It also is very consistent. I have one of the little beretta 22lr pocket pistols. it does not have an extractor being a true blowback operated pistol. It can be finicky about ammo and doesn't tolerate ammo with inconsistent performance. Super x is the ammo of choice for that little gun and it gobbles them up without any issues.

My first brick of Power Points was the best stuff I ever shot. The next, not so much as it was right after everyone else discovered it.
Since then, I've been stuck with buying it a brick at a time. Usually by the time I got back from testing the brick to the store, the bricks from that lot were GONE.
That said, a brick at a time has been okay. PP's are a really good bet.
