Rise of an Empire is the sequel to 300 but it's not as good.

Sullivan Stapleton plays Themistocles and his performance is a disappointment after seeing Gerard Butler's performance as Leonidas, in 300.

I wish Hollywood would refrain from trying to rewrite history. The movie depicts the Spartan navy as coming to the rescue of the Athenian navy at the battle of Salamis. That's ridiculous since the Spartan navy (if there actually was one) consisted of no more than a handful of fishing boats. The 200 triremes that made up the Athenian navy made them the strongest naval superpower of their time.

The Spartans had the greatest infantry of their time (maybe of all time) so they didn't consider a navy to be very important. It was their leadership at the battle of Plataea that lead to the final defeat of the Persian army at the end of the second Persian invasion. That battle wasn't even included in the Hollywood version.

Not worth the price of admission.
