Australia is the only continent that I have not killed something on yet, though I have been there.

I hope to use this forum for narrowing my search for an outfitter in a few years. I need to hit New Zealand first.

No "shrimp on the barbi!!!" jokes please...Your beer sucks too. You have too many nasty snakes. GFY Australia. I will see you in a few years. Please import some real beer before I get there.

TIA.

Rick;
It's been too long since I've said hello and wished you and your fine family well sir.

Thanks for the new section though, it'll make for a lot of interesting reading I'm sure.

Good morning to all of my Australian 'Fire friends current and future from the still yet dark section of south central BC.

Dwayne

I haven't been called a bloke in a while...I will take that as a compliment!

I like this forum already, and I was not joking when I said I will be hunting Australia in the next few years. Any particular place I should be looking at for stag, pig and whatever else that is relatively cheap and free range?

Most of what American's know of Australia is fabricated BS. Some created through false images like the Dundee movie.
No-one seems to know that an ex painter from the Harbour (English Spelling) Bridge got a few mates together and spent just $2,000,000 on a silly script that required no props, carpenters, extensive sets or pre-camera research teams and made billions. That's business acumen.

We don't Drink Fosters. The US version is a different beer made in Texas and North Carolina.

Did you know Aussies invented Satellite Telly in the days before it went Socialist? Alan Bond, who was the first person in history to take the America's Cup away, also put SKY TV in the UK and the world followed.

Did you know that the Aussie Telecommunications company Testra was exporting communications technology to China and India in the 80's?

Even built a pipeline from Oz to China to export natural gas as OZ is mineral rich, though the citizens don't see a dime of it. Kind of like out Obama windmills that cost billions in subsidies though your electricity bill keeps escalating.

Did you know that all the Jap cars you see are made with Aussie Steel as BHP is the largest Steel Company in the world and Japan it's largest trading customer as they have no natural resources.

Queenslander's call the fly spray they drink "XXXX" because they can't spell "Beer"

There is no DOW so asking how many deer per mile or how many roo's have you killed will cause an Aussie to turn his head side ways like the dog.

They are "Prawns". Shrimp are freshwater crayfish called Yabbies.

The Subaru Outback commercials are filmed in California, not Oz.
Speaking of which, Aussies are Ozzies, like Ozzy and Harriet and Osbourne. Never heard "Ossies" till I cam here and thought it weird, as in where this this come from?

Aussie beer must be the best in the world because you can always find one a foreigner likes. You can't do that in many other countries. Speaking of which again... Budweiser does not enter the International categories, Tooheys does and won 2 years back to back recently, Bud never will.

Tellya a funny story and it is gospel truth. I was visiting the Jack Daniels factory in Lynchberg Tennessee and went into a store there and the woman serving said, "You talk funny, where you from?" I responded, "Australia". She though a moment and they said, "Take ya"all long to drive here?" I looked at my American wife and she shrugged and said "I told you".

You see, we always thought the Clampet's were Hollywood fiction. The buggers are real!

Are we having fun yet? Where's Ingwe?

laugh Nope the Clampets are real. Scary isn't it! laugh

It is truly humorous and sometimes a bit disturbing on what preconceived notions some people have. Most from the east still think we live in soddies and travel by horse. crazy

Sad day when Swan Lager was no longer imported to the US. Can still get Castlemaine here I think though it's been a while since I've looked.

The best beer is Carton Draught.
Only comes in bottles and was $50 a case a dozen years back.

John, your time in the US is showing, you're thinking of Crown Lager not Carlton draught.. grin

Re beers on my one and only trip to the US I set myself a task to try as many US beers as I could.....the only one I really liked was Moosehead...then I found out it was Canadian.

I agree with one of the other posters James Squire beers are waaay up there...and they're brewed by a, wait for it, a trans located Yank! laugh

JF,
True, That's how long its been. The fly spray in the US is pathetic by comparison. I buy a 12 pack about every 2 weeks and struggle to get through it.

Owned a bar for a few years here an drank Tooheys, but it is no longer available. I tried to keep sales up but failed.

I drink more red wine than anything else. Being in the grip of the grape, it is easier to find a reasonable plonk.

John
