I picked up the below saw awhile ago and was attempting to use it for the 1st time. I cannot figure out how to assemble, given there is no screw mechanism on the handle.

Does anyone have this one and can you tell me the trick to snapping the blade onto the pins?

Looks like you might be missing the screw.....

I saw a picture of one like that online, but mine is different. There is no hole to accept a screw, rather the back is completely solid. There is a slot at the bottom of the handle with a pin to go into the hole in the blade, but can't get the blade to stretch far enough to go over the pin.

Sounds like they sent these to China.

I've never seen one without a bolt and wingnut. Try holding the handle and putting the front tip down on something solid. Push down to flex the saw enough so the blade will go over the pins.

WTF did they do to the worlds best little saw?

Can you post a picture of where the blade attaches to the handle?

Well that's different.
Mine is WY II. To get the blade as tight as I like the wing nut will barely start on the threads.
As you can see by how far the nut is tightened there is quite a bit of flex being taken up.

Nope. I'm going to have to call them next week, and in the mean time buy a damn saw to limb out the sucker tree crowding the deck tomorrow.

You might be able to take the bar out of the handle, put the blade on the pins, then push the bar back into the handle. But I don't know that it would keep the blade taut. I tried that with my wing nut model and I thought the blade was loose.

I own all 3 sizes of Wyoming Saws and have never seen one like the OP's with no wing nut and screw for the blade to fit on. I'm assuming that must be a newer model. I hope they aren't all like that now.

Those on their website still have the wingnut to tighten the blade. They do sell replacement handles with the bolt assembly for not too much money.

I'm thinking it may be a Chinese pos that was advertised as a Wy saw.

One of the things I did to my saw was get some carbide hack saw blades a that are just a little longer than the factory blades and then drill a proper sized hole where it should be and thus I can use their frame with any blade. Carbide hacksaw blades are very useful times.

Was there a tag that said, "Inpected by Sum Ting Wong"?

Just go to HomeyD and buy a pruning saw.

Its not offensive. It's true. I've bought way to much stuff from China that's poorly made.

The blade says "Made in Sweden" in the first pic and these saws are made in the USA. I've got 2 versions of the Wyoming Saw and none of the blades say that. I've never seen one like the one in OP.

clamp the saw in a vise and flex it so the ends move towards each other and then slip the blade over the posts. I have to do this on older bow saws that the Scout Troop has.

Any luck with this?

I just got in a Jam for a similar comment. That is why I said that. I know it is very true.

I finally got around to calling Wy Saw and spoke to a helpful fellow there. From the description I gave him, it rang no bells and he said he has been with them for about 20 years. I sent an email with a couple pictures and got the below response:

"Paul, I discovered this saw was sold briefly by us over 35 years ago. To get the blade to fit the handle requires the frame to be pushed or flexed against a fixed object (like the floor). The frame will flex just enough for the blade to fit the pin in the handle."

I tried it this morning and it in fact worked. They also offered to 'make it work' if I couldn't get it to flex enough...I assume by retrofitting a tension screw. A pretty good offer, but I think I'll probably just rely on the flex approach to get it assembled.
