'84? Browning BLR in .358, with an old Redfield 1 3/4-5x wide field. I bought it at 14, with yard mowing, hay bailing, and farm work $. Traded it for a bolt action 30-06, cuz I didn't know how to load and couldn't find ammo. Doh!

I first hunted deer with a Remington 700 chambered in .30-06. I still hunt with it, although it has been blue printed and chambered in .338-06.

Interarms Mark X in 30-06. Started with a fixed 4X Weaver but very quickly started playing musical scopes. This one loved 165 hornady btsp's.

model 24 savage 22mag/410, lots of backstraps hit the frying pan via the .410 slug. might be why I like the 41 mag.

Sure is great reading about how many of us got our first deer rifle by working our asses off to buy it. It wasn't the need or want of it as much as our parents knew it was the way we needed to learn responsibility and to work for the things we wanted to have in life. My folks never said no when I saw a gun I wanted but " get to work if you want it cause that's the only way you will get it." 1st gun, motorcycle and car all bought with money I earned gave me a work ethic for life, betting the same for most of us. It's what a lot of kids today don't have because their parents buy them everything without letting them earn it. Magnum Man

A '67 (I think) model 700 in .243. $101.89. That was a lot of yards I had to cut at $2-3 a pop. Still have it and it'll still put 3 shots in less than an inch with about 2500 rounds through the barrel.

Marlin 336 Texan in 35 Remington. It was probably 1960, & I remember paying $75 or so. Wish I still had it.
