In the past I've had 94-22's in both S L LR and 22mag. I sold or traded them and some years ago bought a 94-22 XTR CLASSIC. I like the pistol grip stock on this rifle better than the straight stock regular 94. My question is, are the CLASSIC's more valuable than the regular 94 models?

All the 94-22's are more valuable this year than last due to Winchester closing their shop.

My personal preference is for the straight stock versions but I would guess there's not more than a gnat's butt difference in the marketplace.

That's a definate MAYBE. I asked about this a week or-so ago on rimfirecentral and was directed to an ad on GUNBROKER (I think it was) where a man had one listed for $900.00. When I asked if he was out in left field on the price, the reply was that he may be a little past third base, but not by much. His did not sell.

Seems that the Classic was only made 85-87 and that many people prefer them too the Legacy that replaced them. If his had sold for that money mine would likely be for sale too fund a Cooper.22.

Dave.

I remember the year after I bought mine they put cheap plastic/nylon sights on the barrel. Maybe that was the Legacy? Mine has the classic steel simi buckhorn sight.

I think a Classic should bring more than a standard model or a Legacy. I would guess that you could get $700 for it if it is 99% or so. Maybe more.

I don't know how to properly grade one, but mine is definatley not 99%. It didn't get the proper amount of T.L.C. back in my younger days. I would guess somewhere around 85- 90%. It has a dent in the left side of the forearm (to big to be swelled back out with an iron) and small spots of rust on the receiver, bolt, on buttplate. Not bad but there. Other than that it just has a few very small "handling" marks. Still shoots very good, better than I can without a scope.

Dave.

Rwl, I believe the Legacy has checkering. The Classic doesn't and it has a crescent steel buttplate, the Legacy does not.

My Legacy has a factory rubber butt pad. Nice touch!
Pretty handy for leaning in a corner....
