What sticks in your mind, as the best?

For me and my wife, it was in a waterfront restaurant/pub in Queenstown, New Zealand. We both ordered venison (red deer) and green-lipped mussels, with Montieth's Black ale.
We were in NZ for a Tahr, Chamois, and Red stag hunt on the South Island.

Almost worth going back to Queenstown for dinner!

Easy one!

Elephant Backstrap in Zimbabwe. One Backstrap from an Elephant can feed over a dozen people, and every time I have enjoyed it, it has been MOUTH WATERING good!

Santa Rosa, Argentina while hunting Red Stag. Every meal cooked up by former White House chef Oscar Kahan. Yes, Oscar was "discovered" by Reagan while running the NYC restaurant Lemoncello in 1985. Reagan ate their, and invited him to join the WH kitchen on the spot. Oscar has cooked for every POTUS since, as well as cooking for all the Heads of State in the Western Hemisphere at the Meetig of the Americas.,

Long story about how he got to this estancia the same week as I, but brothers and sisters let me tell you it was the finest week of dining to had on earth! I'll say his rack of lamb was tops.

Boddington came by for lunch, and had the only meal that coould be considered close to ordinary. I took 274 photos that week and honestly more than 180 were of the food. Man, was it the bomb!

Only thing I've hunted afar was beaver.
I liked it.
You can starve on beaver.....that's why they invented French fries. Good call.

Gembok in South Africa. It may have just been the cooking, but it was the best food I have ever had.

Toss up between fresh made fajitas in Chihuahua MX or pan-fried moose loin with fresh picked mushrooms sauteed and poured over it.

Mexican cook made the tortillas fresh, marinaded the meat, roasted the chilis and made fresh salsa every day.

Maybe some day I will hunt in a more exotic country with a better menu! I have eaten in a lot of different countries but not at a camp!

Guinea Fowl casserole made by the mother of my PH/Outfitter friend in Zimbabwe. Second best was her Steak and Kidney Pie. She also made some kind of brown/black desert pudding with a sauce that was superb also.

Although not in a different country, went to SE Alaska in May 2102 for Brown Bear. Stayed at the hotel in Juneau the one night before. The restaurant there had a bunch of mexican dishes on the menu.....which I thought was very unusual and out of place. I was expecting crab and fish.

Also stayed there for several nights after my early out and ordered from that same menu......time and again.

They had a TERRIFIC chicken burrito with beans and rice on the side! In fawkin' Alaska?? I ate them like they were candy for several days. I couldn't believe it. And I'm a top mexican food fan growing up in New Mexico.

After questioning the staff a bit.........turns out they had a couple great chefs from southern Arizona that had wanted to move there and stayed a while and had transformed the eatery into a GREAT mexican food place. It was soooo out of place. I was impressed.

What a terrific pleasure of a food plate after being 8 days in the bush.

Too bad you've never been out of your sisters bedroom and consequently can't add anything constructive to this thread.

Pretty sure that no one has hunted brown bear in 2102, either.

Would somebody please check under his mother's skirt?

SBH, I really DO have lots of dyslexic moments. More of them lately for various reasons. Just funnin ya.

One of my very first posts here, maybe even my very first ever, was about my having shot a SCI book Cap Buffalo in a year that had not yet arrived. JJHack caught it and ribbed me about it, and he and I are now best of friends.
