Photo doesn't show it, but we got into a bunch of chunky 1/2 lbers. I love a little fish with big ambitions. Found some 12-16" bucketmouths too, but the little guys were the stars. Ella

It was a lotta fun. I couldn't believe how those panfish were nailing those 6" worms. Hadn't seen them take on big lures like that. Big pond, lots of frogs, etc. But man they were HONGRY.

I've caught bluegills on 4 inch minnow lures. Even on 4 inch lazy ikes! No way they would fit in their mouth. It is really cool to watch bluegills turn on their sides to inhale a popper because their mouth is taller than wide!
Were those worms rigged wacky style? I've wondered if rigging wacky would lead to more hookups than more traditional hooking methods. Am also planning to try rigging the Uncle Josh pork worms wacky style and see if that will keep the buggers from nipping off the ends!

I've never tried a wacky rig though I've seen folks do well.
For still water when casting distance isn't an issue, I like to rig a finese worm just like a texas rig but no weight. Helps keep em out of the weeds, and they suspend and dive real nice. I've caught most of my best bucketmouths that way. Never had panfish hit em before.
Let us know how the experiments work.

I've caught limits of rainbow trout rigging the little Berkly trout worms whacky style. It seems to work on any type fish.

Looks like a green sunfish. Tennesse is full of them. Very aggressive little fish. I have caught them on bass jigs, DD22s and texas riggerd worms. They think they are bigger than they are! kinda looks like a warmouth too, can't tell from that angle.
Eating fried chicken and watermelon since 1972.

I put 6 in my sons 100 gallon aquarium.
Along with 2 Smallmouth bass and three channel cats. The cats are getting too big now, gotta replace them with new baby ones.
The sunfish are such aggressive eaters, they will take meal worms from your fingers.
