I was riding my bike yesterday and found a pretty good sized bear turd in the road- solid mesquite beans! Amazing that nobody has seen and reported this bear yet! It was on the pavement and just north of the 202.
Remember the year we had all those bears come into town? Must have been around 98 or so.

Critters and pepes can coexist to a certain extent- if we let them.

We generally don't let them. Up in AK I think they are closer as there is heavy cover to hide them in. The desert is less forgiving in that respect. Considering Phx metro has like 4 million people, it would be a miracle if anything could coexist.

I've been using Game Cams for about 10 years now. I have literally thousands of images. Usually keep two or three set year round. I go to my trespass lease here in the Texas hill country monthly. Getting there and retrieving the san disk cards is something that I very much look forward to as there is no telling what one may see. Here is a sequence of a Chocolate Sika. In the 11 seasons I've been on this lease I've only killed one Sika stag. Have seen a number of does infrequently. I have not seen this stag with my eyes and have no other pictures. The camera is set to take pix at 1 minute intervals. It appears to me he is enjoying his mud bath........... Best, GWB

one more sequence.... Mature white-tail buck. Never saw him before, never seen him since. Just these three images. Eight other guys on a low/no fenced ranch of 50K plus acres, of which we hunt a 1,700 acre pasture. I showed them the pix. None of them had seen him either.......... Best, GWB

here is a Sika Stag that made the mistake of coming in at Dark-thirty instead of waiting until dead dark. He was about 140 yds. As Sika's are exotics, they can be taken in Texas 24/7/365. I could just make out his horns as not being those of a white-tail. He wasn't big enough to be an elk, and I could tell he wasn't a cow, plus I've never seen a hog with legs that long or antlers. So I nailed him. Best, GWB

one more that got away... I hunted this 3,000 acre low fenced ranch from 2003 through 2008. Kept game cams up year round. One more where these three images are all I have of this buck. No one else ever saw him either. These guys are like ghosts. and that's the fun of it. Seeing pix like this helps a fellow "hang" when he's hung over, cold, wet and thinking how nice a fire, a warm bunk and a toddy would be. Bragging rights fer sure. Best, GWB

A couple of years ago, when I was guiding full time, I had 10+ cameras out all year round. I would check some of them every couple of days as the season approached. Had great success that year with finding nice game for everyone; killed my best archery coues buck that year. Eventually all my cameras were stolen and I got burned out on guiding. Saw some really cool stuff on my cameras over time. Had camera or two in my backyard. Amazing what came in while I was sleeping

GW,
What the farg is that in picture two?
Some cross between a fox and coyote?
Stunted muzzle, black face, bushy black tinted tail, heavier fore legs.
I never saw nothin like that.
Do you know?
------------
EDIT: doing alittle research, is that an Island kit fox? Looks just like pics on line, rounded ears, black muzzle and tail accents, stunted muzzle, thicker fore legs, silvery hair cover 2/3 of body. Wow. Learn something new on the Fire. And not in the basement.
If so, those are rare or endangered, no?
----------
Yup. Not Island, those are from Cali, but definitely KIT fox, native to southwest. What a beauty of a fox and a perfect shot.

WAR, that is simply a gray fox. We've tons of those in the Texas hill country. In fact they're much easier to get to come to a call than coyote or bobcat. Usually will see them within 3 minutes from the time you start your sequence. Best, GWB

I've shot them at my lease north of Vanderpool that backed up to Lost Maples. Those in the picture are at my lease near Reagan Wells. There is a story that goes with those pix. I've been on that lease since the 2005 season. I've had game cams in that area and on that feeder ever since. That is the only sequence of Aoudad on any feeder of mine up to that date. That season around November I got a shot at the big Ram. I was sitting in an elevated box blind that was on a rise adjacent to a hillside that runs for about 3/4 mile. There's a dry creekbed that runs between where I sit and the hill I can look across and see. That ram came with his harem over the top of the hill. He was about 450 yds. when I spotted him. Sun was going down and caught the glint off his coat. He didn't see me. I had a 308 zero'd at 100, and not the 338 RUM I typically carry when shots can be to 400 yds. I had only three pix of him on game cam so I decided to hold over and take the shot. I did, I heard the "whop" and got back on the scope in time to see him flinch, shudder and take off down and to the right. Well this was an hour before dark. It took about 30 minutes to get down and cross the creebed and climp up the hill looking for the point of impact. Never picked up the slightest hint of blood. Over the next six months I looked and looked but never saw hide nor hair. I almost never lose an animal, but I lost him. Needless to say I was bummed. He was a stud. I continue to see Aoudad from time to time. Usually when I'm by myself and quiet. Have not seen his equal since.
Best,
GWB

Nice pics fellers, I have 3 cameras out right now. Hopefully I will have something to share in about 3 weeks. I had some pictures of a small bull elk that had caribou like antlers, but it got lost during a computer problem a while back. He should have been a spike/forked horn instead he was a 4x5 with comb like antlers on top. Stupid computers anyways.

Checked a camera yesterday. I have seen 4 bulls now within 400 yds of here with either only one antler or one normal antler- jacked up genetics! [img:center] [/img]
