I am shopping for a tang sight for my Win 1873. All I see new are Marbles & Lyman. The marbles has to be bought in individual pieces , costing more than the Lyman.
Does anyone have experience with both?
Is the Marbles better?
Is there any other options?

I've had the Marble for several years now on my Marlin 1895 Cowboy 45-70. I got the "improved" version. I like it fine. I got the improved version thinking that alternating between different height posts would be cool. Well come to find out that I don't shoot at enough different ranges to need the feature. The medium post was way too much elevation for 300 yds. But at any rate, my sight holds zero well and it is well built/solid. I hunt elk with this rifle.

Short post 200-300 yards. med post 400-600 yards. Long post 600-800yards.

Something to keep in mind, Marbles have windage adjustment and the Lyman doesn't. You have to drift your front sight to zero the Lyman, you simply turn the windage knob on the Marbles. That may or may not be worth the extra to you, it is to me.

Short post 200-300 yards. med post 400-600 yards. Long post 600-800yards. That is accurate. I did not find such delineation years ago when I did mine. I have the short post on it zeroed at 200 with hornady leverevolutions.

Use paper shims under the base of the Lyman sight to adjust for windage - it's easier. Use plastic coated card stock if you are concerned about moisture. Cut the strips two to three sixteenths inches wide and just short of the base length. Works fine. The Lyman is at its best as a hunting sight where you sight the rifle in with your hunting load.
