Last pictures...the trophy trout of the trip! Layne caught this nice brook trout (rarest on the stream) to once again complete the Grand Slam for he and Grace on this trip. He was VERY excited to bring this one in to the net! A special thank you to Wyogal for the wading boots Layne wore on this trip!

Congrats on a great trip. My oldest aged out this year. We've had many wonderful days on that creek. Here's a video he made on his last trip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFM8w4p8Q58

A grand time there! Make sure one does a triple backup on those pics.
In that 6th pic: That is why God invented a reel. We can wind them in instead of running them down with a net.
Keep them coming,

a12 - Thanks for the video link. I can't imagine a better place to get kids started fly fishing! We are planning a trip back in November when the browns are up in the creek. 1minute - A grand time there! Make sure one does a triple backup on those pics.

Keep them coming, In that picture big sister wasn't winding fast enough on the reel to keep up with an anxious little brother! We don't have a picture of what happened next, though, as the trout made a run back around him and dumped him in the stream. Definitely a learning experience...

We've fished DRC several times in November. It's great then. You may've noticed in the video that they were fishing streamers in dirty water. If you ever catch them cleaning the hatchery and see dirty water coming out, tie on a streamer immediately. The strikes are incredible.

The addiction started, its an addiction I tell you! Oh one more bit of advise lawn casting is a whole lot different than fish catching casting. Seems three of you did well and had a fine day.

We don't have a picture of what happened next, though, as the trout made a run back around him and dumped him in the stream Another lesson if they ever graduate to yard long steelhead/salmon is: When fish are near keep ones legs/feet together. Life can get exciting and expensive when the big boys do a run between ones legs. Broken rods and a lots of fun if a daisy chain of flies goes ripping through there too. A final suggestion: Move into macro land with that camera and get some real close fish pics. Was out with a coworker and his sons this past weekend. Elder son, who has to struggle a bit, was elated as he made a run at breaking his prior record of 12 fish. The count this time was 24. A grand day indeed.

It does my heart good to see kids discovering and enjoying the great outdoors. And You are one GREAT dad for giving them the opportunity.
