Decided to upgrade some of my rifle scopes and picked up 3 Leupolds. 2 VX-2 3-9 Ultralights, 1 with std duplex and 1 with LR duplex and a VX-3 2.5-8.
As you can see, I tend to go for light weight optics and no, I am not buying your idea of another scope.
The rifles are a M700 custom lightweight in 30-06, a M70 FWT in 270, and a M70 in 375H&H which has Talley Quick Change and also has a 1.5-6 Ill. Kahles in Talley rings.
Since the 375 has the Kahles for DG I'm thinking of putting the 2.5-8 in Talleys on that, the LR 3-9 on the 270 since this will be for hunts where longer range shooting may be in order and the standard duplex 3-9 on the -06. Does that sound like the way to go or given those rifles would you do it differently?

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

So why do you think going from the 1.5-6 Kahles to a VX3 Loopie on the 375 is an "upgrade?"

But I would put the LR duplex on either the '06 or 270--whichever shot better with light-for-caliber bullets--and think of it as my open country gun. Hopefully that is the .270, as I think of it more as a plains cartridge.

The "upgrade" on the 375 is from a Vari-X III 1.5-5 to the 2.5-8. I have the low magnification covered with the Kahles but wanted the second scope to have a little higher magnification. The 270 and 30-06 are both going from 30 year old 2-7's to the 3-9's.

I can't imagine picking the Leupold Ultralights for anything, sans a 22LR.

That was mean. I have some sort of 'affliction' that makes it necessary for me to mount scopes far back. I should be entitled to some compensation, and freedom from internet bullying, like yours.

If you'd put the ice pack on your neck, instead of in the whiskey, you might be able to move your neck.

Unfortunately I was there first. In spite of all the unnecessary-and mean-comments thrown your way, you are still a pup relatively speaking.

Therein lies the motivation for this change. I used to wonder why anyone needed high magnification scopes for hunting when I was shooting 600 yards with iron sights. Now I can't even see iron sights. cry
