RaginCajun, I couldn't tell you how much heavier than the factory sewer pipe it is, I never weighed it. My Creedmoor barrel is .960" at the tip, so weight is totally different.
The X series rifles are what I wish Savage was. Quality of parts and finish are just better, and they take the same prefit barrels!!
I'm a firm believer in the theory of " If it bleeds, I can kill it".

Almost bought a Savage Saturday. Found an X7 and bought it today. It's a youth model with a short stock and a crappy generic brand scope. But I like to fiddle with things, and it will be fun getting this thing to shoot. From review I've read, these rifles are pretty accurate out of the box. We shall see what we shall see. Thanks,
Scott

1tnhunter, I plan on getting the checkering. I had a Boyd's stock on a Rem 700 several years ago, and it was a little hard to hold on to , especially in cold weather. Might go for a couple of other extras like the recoil pad,and maybe the grip cap with the white line spacers.

According to my bathroom scale, (not a precision instrument, I grant you) The stock weighs right at 2.5 lbs. The whole rifle and scope weighs right at 8 lbs. I don't think I'm gonna worry about it.

The checkering really makes the stock stand up and shout! They have several different patterns and you can mix...well worth the money!

Good deal...let us know how it shoots n turns out.
Btw...let me know if you think of getting rid of the youth stock. I may be interested.

Vic_in_Va - very nice...but what happens when you're out/about in the Fall? The leaves turn the same color as your stock LOL. BTW - lam or syn material? Homesteader

Thank you. By the way, my Daughter named it the "Great Pumpkin".
The stock is synthetic, it's a McSwirly, 50/50 orange/black.
Believe me, it's visible. We hit the height of our color here about mid-October and can't hunt deer with a CF until early to mid November.
By then, it stands out.
