Three color options are usually given: tan; Cordovan/oxblood; or black.
Which color due you like for your gun leather & why your preference for that color?

Most of my holsters and gun belts are black, but when I purchase more, I think that I go with tan leather.

For revolvers, I like tan. For semi-autos, I like black. There is no particular reason other than personal preference.

I tend to like black as it goes with everything and does not show wear so much.

For general carrying (non-concealed,) I prefer the tan as matches most of my "hunting" belts. For concealed carry, I prefer black. I've never thought about why...?

I like tan for most of my gear. One of the reasons is that I like the way tan leather ages with time and use. Nice well used leather rigs remind me of old saddles, tack and other cowboy gear.
A nice old model 29 .44 Magnum, with blue wear from years afield, with a saddle tan holster that has seen many a mile in the mountains and deserts and trails, just looks "Old School Cool" to me.

Thanks for the feedback! i use all three colors. for appearance only, i've always liked the cordovan color best. when it comes to being out in the woods, especially on longer hikes/climbs--i only use the "natural buckskin" or tan color, as getting caught in a mountain rainstorm while completely out in the open makes for some really wet gear. this can cause some of the dyed leathers to bleed off color, which can get on clothing, etc.

Tan or black works equally well for me.

Galco's "Havana Brown" is very near the top for me. Otherwise, I like black gun leather.

For D/A revolvers i think black basketweave is just classic
Autos- basic black. However with Stainless Autos i think black with mahogony gator or ostrich trim just looks good.
Single action revolvers, well I've gotta go with Mac's old saddle brown

Holsters will be for stainless 1911 Colt XSE Govt. The second holster for stainless 5.5" Ruger Redhawk 44mag. The holster for 1911 will be for IDPA. I want an OWB for the 1911. Don't care for kydex holsters and rather go for good leather. Buy quality leather once, cry once.

I have brown and black for my most oft carried piece, a somewhat customized now RIA 10mm. Reason being, I want the color that blends in with my carry clothes that day i.e. if my cover shirt or jacket rides up a bit or gets windblown a little a color matching my clothing is, i think, a little less likely to be glaring out at everyone. I wear a lot of black Wranglers and Black double front, padded knees Carhart pants with black or grey T-shirts so often have a black belt and boots and gunleather at the same time. Everything just kinda blends together that way. The only holster I have for my 329PD, as it is mostly a mountain fishing, big game hunting back up and trails gun, is plain brown. Outdoors I will be wearing brown, tan or camo a lot. Have to say here that I find myself choosing the 329PD for carry more oft than I originally thought I would due to its wonderful light weight. Going to have to get some better sights on that bad boy soon. And a black holster. All of my carry and outdoors wear holsters are pancake style outside the waistband and snug to the hip style. My P3AT 380 does not have, or need, a holster

safariman, sounds pretty nice set up.
Im looking at Milt Sparks 55BN for my 1911, & 200Aw for ruger redhawk. Both handguns are stainless.
Will also order 1.5" belt from them too. Probably everything in black.

since i am old school, meaning before the day of the semiauto, most of my holsters are bianchi, or galco, and in brown. I think i have only one or two in black, and don't ever remember buying one in that color. But since i have a few striker fired polymer semiauto's i like a lot these days the sherpa blackhawk systems, which are black.

Not too picky here. Ringler belt and slide with a Leahy holtser carrying an old 475 Linebaugh.

The old standby russet tan is so boring I don't even offer it. Which is fine, because I haven't had any requests for it. Far and away, the most popular color has been oxblood. Antique brown is also a beautiful finish.
