Whoo-Hoo! Nice blacktail. Congrats.
How much did he weigh?

I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all.

Wow, nice buck and I can't believe your deer are hard horned already.

Thanks Fellas.
Yeah some find it amazing that we're deer hunting in July.
That buck was fresh out of velvet by only a couple days.
Thomas was targeting a much better buck, but this one came by and was just too good to pass up, guess it's going to be up to me to find him.... wink
The zone we live in here at home doesn't have very good genetics or feed, most hunters kill 2x2 bucks, we're lucky to have ground we can manage, and even though it's private the hunting conditions are incredibly difficult with 100 degree days common and stalking these wary bucks on the dry leaves and grass is like walking on potato chips.
We're allowed two buck tags, usually use the other to hunt up north later in the fall.

Best wishes to all you guys with your hunts year.
