Just handled an Ed Brown SF Carry 45 ACP today at a LGS. Unfired NIB asking price $2845. Seems about $100 over EB's price, but available OTD today, no waiting. Seems like a good deal considering immediate delivery.
What do you think? Good deal or keep looking?

The only 1911 I'd spend that money for would be the one Sgt York used to kill his Germans.

You can beat that price with a Baer, and it may well run better than the EB.
In the high end 1911's Baers are a (relatively) good buy, IMO, having owned two of them. If you want lots of styling exercises and finishing details, (or a 10mm) I'd probably look at a Nighthawk, or get a master to build a custom exactly as you wish.

I'd put my money into a custom Fusion, and if I divest myself of some firearms - ($$$$$) I plan to do just that. That is the one 1911 I really want.
Of course, if you like that Ed Brown 1911 and like it - Good on you ... and Congratulations!

Buying a new high grade 1911 is like buying a new car, boat or motorcycle - they depreciate quickly. Most people buy them thinking it will make them better shooters and when they realize that it doesn't, they frequently get sold.
Check some of the popular gun Forums (1911addicts.com) as they routinely sell for less than $2k with low round counts.
I saw a Brown recently for $1900 and a Baer for $1600 ..... both in like new condition.

Thanks for the responses so far. I have a LS UTC and I'm very satisfied with it - great EDC! Looking to pare down # of pistols and concentrate on a few 100%+ reliable ones for SD.
Asking about asking price of those who know the EB market. Thanks.

It's about what I've seen similar EB's going for here. Though to be honest that's Cabela's.
LGS here has an EB SF Carry II - $2744.99, the Les UTC for 1816.23
At that price range, I wouldn't quibble so much over 50 or 100 bucks if it's a pistol that easily obtained without shipping hassles or the like.

Heres one in the Campfire Classifieds just about a week ago. Looks to still be available. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth..._WTS_Ed_Brown_Special_Forces#Post9049323

Mink, OR, thanks for the leads.
May need to put a couple of pistols on the Classifieds here.
