My Father passed away recently and left me, along with 6 otherlong guns, a Savage 250-3000 s/n 58444X and has a Redfield 3x9 Variable scope. It is in great condition. I know nothing of this gun, but this forum has been very informative.

The "oval" has "23B" on the front of the lever and the model is 250-3000 SP.

Can anyone enlighten me on this rifle? It does not fit in with my calibers of ammunition currently keep and wonder if I should "ammo up" or sell it as he left me so many weapons I do not have room. Also, I am mainly into hand guns and tactical shot guns. Thanx..

Finally getting around to cleaning and dialing in my grandmother's 250-3000 and start doing some killing with it. Don't know the serial # offhand, but it's an old gun and in decent shape. Needs some new glass and she'll be good to go. Can't wait to get her out this fall in memory of my grandmother.

I read above, best to start a new tread. Now what a hoot, this has gone in so many directions so many times it has become it's own forum. What's are Orginals? Is that the stuff you would put in paunch stew?

It would be a pretty a cool thread to see unaltered 95 and 1899s and stick to that. I'm seeing at least 70% none original with a lot of hijacking.

First post- line two-How many untouched-modified-altered are around? This went a little wack and no one seemed to care. The first poster is counting the goods that were not called for. Maybe time has come to start a real count? Or as read on this thread, smacks of gun controll. One way or the next the thread has come to a meaningless end. I take that back a bit, The pictures and bs were a bit o fun. A bit of stick to the subject would have went a long way.

Topic went way off quite a while ago. We discussed removing it, but left it since it works pretty well as a welcome thread for newbies to post in. Starting a new thread can be a bit scary, especially if there's a couple trolls currently posting in the forum.

Good point. Put me in for one Savage 99 EG in 300 Cal, non factory d&t, cut stock, butt pad added and a remington pump .22 for pleasure. I will swear in a court of law that is all I own. It still would be a pleasure to see nothing but unaltered in one spot.

I don't know anything about these guns. My grandfather left me 2 99E's in 308. All I know is my dad said "DON'T SELL THESE GUNS!" So they must be worth some money, that's all I know. Grandpop also left me another gun, a model 88 in 308. I forget who the manufacturer is though. Can't sell that one either according to Pops.

model 88 is a winchester could be rifle or carbine,,
model E's in 308 very common ,they were the economy rifle of there day in the savage line,

probably doesn't want you to sell them because their family,
not a lot of value there ..

The 88 is a Winchester.

The rifles may not be worth much monetarily, but invaluable sentimentally.

Hopefully you can understand that.
