Just snatched the M8 6x42 HD and dropped it onto freshly assembled upper: 7-twist Daniel Defense Mid-Length 16-in. Skinny 5.56 bbl w Troy Alpha 15-in., no dust cover, plugged FA hole and Ruger AC556 FH for thread protector till Troy Claymore arrives.

The vision is Tennessee Truck Gun/Perimeter Carbine for work and leisure time.

Gonna try to shoot some groups with 55 grain TAP and Fiocchi 77 grain BTHP this weekend.

Knock off a little weight. Not using low mass bolt or anything but trying to keep weight off where possible.

Would have used a slick side upper if one was handy. This is gonna be mostly a play gun, but will be in bag in SUV for work. Not much dust to deal with in TN usually.

During manhunts, for example, detectives usually watching perimeters. Last time I was posted up on 300 yard field overlooking a narrowband creek bottom. Felt like my Colt Commando w T1 wouldn't have as much oomph or target acquisition ability at that distance.

Gonna swap out the Nikon rings for ultralight Aero Precisions ASAP, too.

Gotcha. I've always used the dust cover to keep the oil and crud IN the gun (and off the truck seat) rather than to keep dust out. So as long as you keep yours cleaner than mine that's not an issue for folks.
