...you can make suggestions to Ruger via their website. My suggestion was:
"A "K1B-C" - Stainless #1B with Circassian Wood in .26 Nosler would be an awfully neat Western hunting rifle. And a nice addition to my collection of #1's"

I asked him for an RSI in 6.5 M-S a couple of years ago. Hope he's paying more attention to you than he is to me.

Don't know how many of you went to the website and read CEO Mike Fifers' opening statement, but I couldn't agree more.
"American Made: Ruger is an American manufacturing company, and we are proud of that. We make American products, in American factories by American workers. We strongly believe that manufacturing in the United States is important in the continued success of our country. While browsing through the internet the other day, I came across this story: No Job for John Smith? But does he wonder why??? John Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY), filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia), and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (made in MALAYSIA), John decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA. It all starts with manufacturing it's the bedrock foundation that any country needs if its service industries are to thrive, or even survive. I think this way every time we launch a new product, every time I buy something myself... it is probably worth considering next time you make a purchase. Many times you don't have a good alternative to buying an import, but sometimes you do, so please buy American whenever you can. Mike"

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

Bring back the #3 in .30-40, .303, and create a new cartridge using .416 bullets in the .45-70 case.
I will order the first one of each of these.

Made the same request this year and last year. Guess they're to busy slapping together plastic stocked guns for the box stores.

Simple solution. Buy an old red pad (back when the wood was not firewood grade), send it to SSK and you can get anything you want up to 600 Nitro. Interesting that some people expect Ruger to be their own custom gun maker, but never whine about Savage not bringing back the 99 (a piece of cake with investment casting and CNC), Remington, Savage and Winchester not making a 505 Gibbs or a 22 Hornet. The market drives what they all build, not some evil group sitting in a dark room spending their time frustrating the 1/10th of 1% of folks who: a) Even bother with No. 1s b) Want obscure calibers that really are not ballistic duplicates of popular calibers. What will a 303 Brit. or 30-40 do that a 30-06 won't ? So now the market is further narrowed to the guys who have to have one of everything, like the Remington 700 Classic collectors. All my No.1s are red pads that were made that way or I found a great red pad stock to put on (450/400 Jeffery). I really doubt Ruger is going to stop building some of the horrible guns they now do, (scout rifles and guide gun) to tool up to build rifles like they did when Bill was alive. Great old No. 1s are out there. Haunt the internet for the small dealers who specialize in used high grade guns. With the Obama depression, there are lots of bargains out there. Any excellent engraver can turn a 1a 7x57 into a 275 Rigby......... I think this gentleman has everything desired except that new silly 26 Nosler. Prices are fair and even a few red pads. Looking hard @ that 06 red pad for a rebore to 375 Whelen. http://www.classicsportingarms.com/rugers-for-sale/

I too would like to see the return of the number 3. I'd buy one in 38\55 & 7.62x54R.
Leave the gun, take the canolis.

Terry Please don't forget the 30 WCF. And while we are at it, just give me a flat rubber butt pad, rather than the metal model.

Bring back the #3 (with a rubber buttplate) in .30-40, .303, and create a new cartridge using .416 bullets in the .45-70.45-120 case.
I will order the first one of each of these.
Terry Fixed them for you. Rugers shoot a lot better when the buttplate doesn't slip all over your shoulder, like those infernal smooth plastic plates. I'm kinda liking that rimmed .416 idea, if the case is big enough...

A .348 would indeed be pretty slick, but I think I'd vote for the 1A.

IMHO with #1 retail price at $1399.00 . The #3 price would likely be $1000.00 or higher, not sure if enough they would sell at that price point.
One thing there would be no difference in the wood quality from the fence post plain wood that we are now seeing one the #1s.
Interesting chamberings would add to the appeal . The plastic carbine butt plate would certainly not add to the appeal.
Should have kept the 3 I did have, they appreciated more then some #1s.

I really oughta find a casting house who would economically make a checkered steel replacement for that buttplate. There's a bazillion 10/22's that could use it, and other guns, too.
When I worked with an original 44 carbine, the accuracy significantly improved, just adding a stuck on rubber strip, so it wouldn't slip all over your shoulder when you fired it.

Added a 348 to my wish list too. I wouldn't mind if the new #3 lost the plastic butt plate and/or the forearm clamp. I think Ruger could do a limited edition of a different caliber every year and sell them out.
Leave the gun, take the canolis.

Been wondering, what can they do differently, that hasn't been done already in a #1. Bunch more Euro cartridges? All rimmed ones? 6.5x57R,7x65R,30R (7.62x68R),8x??R, 375FL ??? Some half-octagon barrels? Maybe, actually buy some nice wood to put on them for a change? Old English recoil pads?

I'll take a .410 or 28 gauge with a IC choke and a 21-22" barrel.
