This has probably been hashed to death but I am going to ask anyway...
What scope mounts would you recommend for a T3 Lite in 7 mag? I am looking for Rock solid mounts that look as good as they work. I like double dovetail Leupolds but really don't want to buy two sets of standard bases to get two dovetail mounts...

It really shouldn't matter but they will be holding a matte VX-3 3.5-10x40...

For my Tikka T3 Lites I prefer DNZ Game Reaper mounts (Medium, with 50mm objective scopes). They're simple, light, one-piece, don't leave marks IME and don't need lapping. Talleys are sleeker looking but I've had great results with the DNZs.

I too am running the DNZ Game Reaper mounts on my Tikka. I wanted to try something different this time and so far I really like them. Excellent fit and finish, easy install, easy sight in.

I'll second the Warne's. I also like the DNZ's very much.

If you replace the screws in the ones that come from the factory they are as good as anything you'll buy. Cost me 50 cents at Home Depot.

If you just want to spend $50 then I'd buy Talley lightweights or DNZ which ever is cheaper.

I respect the Tikka's greatly. But nothing you do is going to make the work horse rifle look like a Show horse.

evidently you do not appreciate match grade accuracy out of the box with no changes or messing around at a phenomenal price to boot.

If someone had posted a certain Mountain rifle in .280 about 24 hours sooner we wouldn't be having this conversation... Oh well, such is life. I was offered a deal I couldn't refuse on the T3 so here we are...

As to making a work horse look like a show horse, I looked at and handled all those horses too. The Mountain LSS, Mountain SS, Ultimate Shadow, Extreme Weather, Classic Stainless and even the vaulted and mighty Montana. I went to Cabelas and spent a couple hours going through the gun library with the intent of leaving with a new to me rifle. I left without one because I could not believe the absolute crap being passed off as a $1000 rifle. The Montana was the only one that came close. The one they had was a .308, with a stock that didn't line up straight and a sticky, rough action. I was shocked Kimber had their name on it. The Winchesters were a complete joke. The original Savage package guns had better stocks and the Classic had a bolt that that couldn't be removed without removing material. I left there severely disappointed and with no rifle. I'm sorry but no rifle that costs $1000 or more should have stock issues right out of the gate.

Halfway home I got a call from a guy with severe buyer's remorse offering me the rifle - unfired - for $100 less than he paid. It was still taped up in the box! Comparing it to all the $1000 wonder guns I just handled made them look bad so I snatched it up.

I finally decided to try a set of Talleys. If they don't trip my trigger, Leupold double dovetails it is. Once I sort all that, she is headed to VAIS. Then the real fun begins!

That is a sweet looking rig! Do you think I could get away with the DNZ Lows instead of Mediums for a Zeiss Conquest 3x9 40mm?

Also, is your bolt handle and shroud custom? Who makes those?

thanks!

Had the DNZ's on my Tikka. They were great, but being a one piece mount, I couldn't carry the rifle with my thumb between scope and rifle. So I switched to Talley mounts. They work just fine.

I use the Talley Lw lows. I didn't buy them for their looks. They work as well as the other Talley bases and rings I have had.
