This last weekend a father and his 17 yo son were bowhunting out of treestands. At the end of the day the father and a friend meet up but no son. Went to the sons treestand and found the son laying on his back under the treestand with a broken back. Doctors don't think he will ever walk again. This kid was an amazing athlete that will now live in a wheel chair for the rest of his life.

Wow that is really terrible. I hope the prognosis improves.
I have bowhunted for 36 or so years and started wearing a harness 6-7 years ago.
The first year I wore it, I fell from about 20' and it saved my ass.

Yeah I just read a similar story on bowsite except the guy that fell was 80 and his son found him dead under the stand. bad deal.
I went to all ladder stands several years ago.

Now that I'm in my 60's, no longer hunt from trees....strategically placed ground blinds have been very good to me the last few years....
