Just had a new world record last year from Yukon. This one has a nicer look to it though. Cabellas paid 100 k for it. They need to get their check book out again. Congrats to the hunter and thanks for sharing.

Salm,
Seen that as well. Heard what the spread is? Regardless, it's a hog!

That's one crazy looking old bull. It's big but won't make world record as it doesn't have enough point to really make it score. It has good width, long palms and wide palms but it doesn't have a lot of points.

Huh, only have the record books to go by, but the 11th edition shows no moose until you get to #49 with as many points. Points and spread are two things to be ignored until you get into the extreme range when scoring moose. Palm length and width are virtually everything.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

Heck of a nice bull. It appears that this was a good season in AK and YT for antler growth. I know I saw several very big bulls and quite a few going through on vehicles.

I'm thinking there should be an "atypical' category for many of the big antlered bulls. So many of them get big weird and/or assymetrical. I have long contended that the best bulls are generally no bigger than the mid-60s. Nice balance and symmetry, good palms, nice/even brows, good points without taking away from the palms. (I still like to see the big ones anyway.)

"Scoring" should be done by displacement of liquid. Give the critter credit for every ounce of antler/horn it grew.

"Scoring" should be done by displacement of liquid. Give the critter credit for every ounce of antler/horn it grew. I detest "book" and "scores". You and Klick make a lot of sense, however. Water displacement would be absolutely not arbitrary, not like all this other made-up chit..... Although deciding a water standard would be just as arbitrary... Either it was a good hunt or not. A trophy" is - or should be- in the eye of the participant. In said spirit, I'd pass that moose up if I happened to see him along the road, or with a smaller bull, in the interest of promoting dominant breeding stock.... Would I lie?

Most moose hunters are meat hunters and many I know would take a small bull if it was hanging with that stud.

John Crouses Ak/Yukon bull killed in the 40 Mile river country in 94 still holds the top spot for Ak-Yukon moose. The above moose however may take that spot! KEY MEASUREMENTS: Greatest spread: 65 1/8 Length of palm: Right 54 4/8 - Left 53 6/8 Width of palm: Right 22 2/8 - Left 21 4/8 Circ. of beam at smallest place: Right 8 - Left 8 Number of points: Right 19 - Left 15
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.
