Blammer has Peeked my interest in the AR platform.

looking forward to building my first. only looking to not repeat calibers i already have. not required but just a personnel preference.

currently own thompsons in .223 30/30 45/70 .44 and 45.
Rifles in 270 and 300 win mag and a lever in 357.
have ordered a 7-30 waters for he thompson as well

so what would best fit 300-500 yards in an AR not listed above. really thinkin of buying something from Dtech. he is just way to helpful not to consider him first.

looked around locally and only finding .223 and .308

we are in prosses of equiping ourself for hand loading. but till that room is finished it'll need to be a factory round.

243 wssm, 25 wssm, 204 Ruger, 6.8 spc, 7.62x39. All good rounds, all factory. Also 50 beowulf and 458 socom depending on your needs.

Don't get in a hurry. Let Blammer and crew show up and we'll hash through a few things.

Though a good flat top mid weight top half in 223 can rock for yotes and is cheap. The 204 version is like a semi in 22-250. Some 204s are pretty high but there are reasonable ones around.

Give D a shout for what he has available.

plucked a factory rockriver outta the box at the range yesterday.

30 rounds winchester .223 68gr fmj into the paper at 100 yards and i could cover the most of the group with my hands. less 2 rounds i sent high and right about 3 inches. buddy josh just got himself a new toy. simple 4x burris short mag ontop

i'm not buying anything for my ar till i finish paying for my accessories for my current toys. proably november. that and there is alot more of a learning curve than i thought. dang alot of people make factory AR stuff

Korps, all the AR's but oly are just pices bought from a pool of vendors and put togather, I have 223's, a 458 socom (ballistic twin of the 450 marlin, in an AR) and one of Dtech's 25's, It must be hanloaded for as to the total OAL that you must have to run them through the mag, unless you just wanna shoot the 120 gr. win factory load, they work ok.
You won't make a bad choice buying from dtech, his is by far my favorite AR.

Agreed! I've got a 243 WSSM upper from Dtech and second that post.

i've been running numbers and reading review's, i am leaning heavily toward the .243.

guy here swears i can have a modified .223 snail drum mag made to fit the 243 and hold 80 rounds, or double snail that holds 150. i really like the bullistics profile i've gone over for the .243 and the 25. but as i am still purchasing handloading gear(it'll take more than a year before i can load my own) the 243 is favored for that reason also.

the 458 socom really peeked my interest also but seemed expensive for a first build...and this will proably not be my last AR lol

I think the mag lips and follower needs modifying for the mags to work with the wizzums. Actually I need a 5 rounder for hunting. Can't imagine carrying 80 rounds, much less 150. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Sweet, think your the third Dtech .243 i've heard about, and the 3rd to seem pleased with it..

yeah anything more than 5-10 rounds is for rapid fire fun..not really what i'd want to carry in the field...tho i could see a use for it in some of the fields with a serious pig problem around here...

I've shot a bit of factory rounds through it. The 55 grain Supremes always go well under an inch. 95 Supremes and 100 grain silver box Winchesters group about an inch to a inch and a quarter. I've shot some 85 grain TSX's into a group under an inch but have more loadings to try. I also have a bunch of other bullets to try including some 85 grain Partitions. I do like it. I think it will be a very used gun for me.
