Finaly took time to check out my new Remington 700 Long Range. I purchased it several months ago when they first came out. I opted for the 30-06. I payed $649.00 from Buds plus shipping and FFL fee. The scope is a 10X SWFA SS.
First group was Factory Barns 150 grain TTXS. Next was 59gr. of IMR4350 with Nosler Brass and Nosler 150 gr. Accubond. I like those so well that I went home, load 20 more and went back to the range the next morning to make sure that all was well.
Factory loads (sorry about the picture...phone pic )
Saturday
All were 3 shot groups at 100yards. I would have tried 5 shot groups but why blow it, this rifle shoots better than I have the capacity.
Louiethedrifter: I am so happy for you and your new Remington 700! But for me I feel just a bit sorrier (is that a word?) - I had a chance (over a period of three weeks) to purchase a Remington 700 Long Range in caliber 25/06 Remington a couple of months ago. I kept procrastinating and procrastinating and finally a more intelligent person than I came along and bought it. It was at a small sport shop that is actually an add on to a gas station and hardware store here in SW Montana. And it actually came under a week long 10% off everything in the store sale - again I am a fool, never mind that I have two other 25/06 Rifles already. IF... another Remington 700 Long Range in 25/06 comes along I am going to buy it irregardless of cost. Again, I am so happy your new Rifle is shooting so well. Good for you. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
I'm seriously thinking about one of these in 300 RUM

. You have a chance to stretch it out yet? Lotta bang for ~$1k, SWFA is a deal.
No sir. I might play with it some at long range but It will be used mostly hunting on the South Texas Senderos at 300-350 max. We have a 600 yard range at my Gun Club so I might see what I can do. Might have to find loads with heavier bullets.
Anybody seen these in 30-06 or 280 in stores lately???

Nice rifle you have there. I have a Remington Long Range in 7mm Remington Magnum , Stainless. I have only shot 2 different Factory loads through mine so far. Hornady Superformance 154 grain and Federal Blue box 150 grain.. The Hornady shoots terrible but the Federal will put 3 shots at a 100 yards in .5 inch.
Federal load accounted for 2 deer this year, doe at 250 yards, buck at 125 yards.Real long range shots !!
I have a SWFA 10x Milquad in Burris Signature Z rings mounted on my rifle.I Adjusted the factory trigger down to 1.75 pounds.
I am going to try the Federal Premium with the 150 Grain Ballistic tip or the Winchester 150 grain Ballistictip to see how they shoot as well.
Cabela's is advertising them on line for 699sale. No 30-06 though.
