Shot a speed goat with a 99F .250-3000, 100 gr. Nosler BT, 34.5 grs. IMR4895 at about 120 yards, broke its back and it dropped in its tracks. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to post photos anymore. David

99F 250-3000. 99F 250-3000. 99F 250-3000. It just sounds perty.

Here's the photo. For some reason I couldn't do this on the new Apple but I can on the freebie Dell.

Good job! Though I'm surprised to hear you're using 100gr Nosler BT's. My experience with any Nosler bullets out of the box on premil 250-3000's is 6" or larger groups at 100 yards. Obviously worked for you though! Love antelope.. my wife makes awesome fajitas out of them. The sagey taste works right into it.

I'm not getting great groups with the 100's about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2" but they're good enough as long as I don't shoot over 200 Yds. I'm reluctant to use lighter bullets on antelope. Jeff, it was standing still looking in my direction. I think it was admiring the 99F. David

I wouldn't be afraid to use an 87 grain Speer Hot Cor though.

I've shot a couple of antelope with the 87gr Speer Hot Core. Dropped them on the spot.

I'll have to work up something with the 87 gr. hotcores before next season. I figured the 87 gr. Nosler BT might not penetrate good enough. The first load I tried with the 87 Nosler used 33 grs. of 4895 and gave me a 1 1/2" group. I figure a little work with that bullet and powder might give a better group. That would probably be a good coyote load.

If you have a premil 99 in 250-3000 that will shoot 100gr Nosler's fine, then I'd say use whatever you like. A man should have confidence in his ammo.

Don, I'll be elk hunting pretty soon. It hasn't snowed lately so they're still up too high for me to get to them. Probably won't get to hunt anything but cows in Nov. Bull season ends on Halloween. David
