I have a stock I'm sending to McMillan to repaint. It will pair with a barreled action coated in Cerakote Graphite Black.

I've narrowed my color choices down to:

Black
Black with grey specks
Black with grey and tan specks

Wondered if anyone here had pics of the above.

Yes, I'm not very imaginative when it comes to rifle color. Thanks!

I'm just not a big fan of black stocks and black metal. With that barreled action, I would be looking at an olive, gray, or tan base color for the stock. Speckle it up from there. Just my 2 cents. Olive as a base color is very low-key.

Here's an idea of a few color combos. I did these myself, but the paint is the same as Mcmillan uses.

Black with grey specks and OD green . Looks good with a stainless action

Look in the speckletone sticky at the top of the page, lots of good color combo's. On a black barreled action, I would want something besides black as the main stock color for some contrast. OD with black and either tan or grey specks looks sweet. Have also thought about Gray with Oliver and Black specks.

I really like the speckle stocks and have a few. The olive & green in Darren's post is actually one he just did for me on my KS. The olive is much nicer than it shows in the pictures.

HVLP spray gun, pressure turned way down, and paint volume up. It will "Spit" the paint out

I think some combination of olive or tan with speckles or webbing looks great on a black or blued actions. Black and gray look better with stainless in my opinion.

Grey with black speckles looks really good with graphite black metal. Black on black kind of looks like a Walmart ADL .

Black on black sucks. As does sniper grey on black. Brown painted McMillan stocks look great on blued or graphite black rifles..

Thanks gents. Those brown stocks with red pads look good...I think McMillan will also put a red pad on the stock when I send it back to repaint.

The stock is currently olive with black and tan specks, with a black 1/2 inch pad. That's been a popular choice here, but when I had it in hand it looked...green.

Thanks again.

Ed, I think that looks great. My sniper grey cerakoted classic sporter sits in a brown stock as well. I painted it myself, but you still get the idea. I like the red decelerators on the McMillan's too:
