I bought this 110 year old 1895 Winchester in 30US from Yar on the 'Fire. Picked it up at the FFL at 1500 and took it shooting when I got home 45 minutes later.

It had apparently been safe bound for the past 40 years. I put a couple of rounds in it, set up 2 hedge apples (Osage Orange) at 30 yards, and blew the crap out each with a shot a piece.

Bad picture, too much sunshine, but you get the idea. It's ready to hunt in a few weeks.

Love the rifle

That is just awesome. Great rifle, and in the hands of someone who will appreciate it and use it for what it is.

The goddam thing ain't worth a schit as it obviously won't hold zero for 5 minutes with that wood stock and the blued carbon steel will rust away at the first hint of humidity in the air you dumbazz.

Don't you wish fine old gals like that could tell you their history? Great weapon and hunting tool!

Nice score, there was a Model 95 in .35 Winchester for sale locally, but couldn't swing it at the time. They are interesting and well made rifles, and a piece of history. smile

That was Remington factory ammo. I couldn't find any 30/40 brass so I bought 4 boxes of factory ammo.

I plan to stuff some 180gr Woodleighs in it.

Very cool Scott. I can dig it.

I have Winchesters models 64, 94, 55, 86, 88, 70, 71.

The 95 is one that has kinda eluded me. I always figured I'd go 405 Win if I bought one. They are pretty cool. A LOT of the old $hit is pretty cool, made well, and happens to work.

Very nice purchase.........

Here is my old 141 in 35 Rem. Dialed in and ready to rock with 200gr Interlock handloads. The 1.75-6X has been replaced by a new 2-7X with heavy D.

The Marbles ax and Marbles knife in top pic are both over 100yrs. old. The Stormy Kromer is a Michigan thing....

Assuming that you know have 80 to reload that you won't be seeking out more brass? I could prolly find you some.

I don't wanna know how much the factory ammo was. I would go broke buying it, as many triggers as I pull.

That rifle to looks to be in pretty sweet shape. Original bluing?

Nice!

I've loved the '95s since I was a kid. I need to get me one!

Original bluing. Thanks on the brass, I'll find some more. I don't intend to shoot the hell out if this rifle.

That cuts it! Going to go buy the 141 .35 Rem my buddy's Dad has been holding for me since the mid-'80s tomorrow! Already got my Dad's stag-handled Marble's Woodcraft and a Swedish Hunter's Axe!

Ahh, increased sight radius! Even modern scopes cannot do that!
