I just watched Crossfire Trail (based on a Louis L'Amour novel of the same name) and the man has all the right stuff. And of course he's Magnum PI!!
I know he's an actor but so was Reagan. Heck they all are!! I believe he's a natural born leader!! He should have already been engaged with politics. Besides he and Reagan were friends.

Indeed. I think his stance on firearms has given support to the NRA - WITHOUT his being paraded around as a figurehead. I would like to think he has an aversion to being brought out of the box and put on display, while the NRA pulls his strings. Pretty sure he would have no role in NRA policy, just function as a trained monkey. I do not blame him for passing it up.
Loved Crossfire Trail. Got to hang with the bad guy (BradJohnson) for a week last year while elk elk hunting. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. Builds a hell of a rifle too...
