I got one of the new Winchester M92 rifles in 357 Magnum the other day for some Cowboy shooting. I noticed when I first got it that loading the tenth round was difficult. I tried different rounds that were a little longer and could not get anywhere near getting in the tenth round. All it would load was 125 grain RNFP bullets in 357 Mag cases. I took it to a match today and had an educational experience. It jammed on two stages by feeding two rounds. I had to remove the magazine cap to unjam the rifle. When I took out the magazine spring, two magazine followers came out. Some fellow in Japan was not paying attention when he assembled my rifle. Taking out the second magazine follower allowed me to load ten rounds with 158 grain RNFN bullets easily. I stuck with the 125 grain bullets for the next round and had the rifle jam again. After putting it back together for a second time, I decided to try the longer 158 grain RNFN bullets. It worked like a charm.
I learned two things about my new rifle. The first is that it really can hold 10 standard length cartridges as long as it does not have two magazine followers in it. The second is that it does not like short cartridges.
