It's a Dash 4, and by all appearances is in about the condition it was in when it left the factory. Not a speck of looseness about anything. Feels like a brand new Swiss bank vault. Butter smooth double action, timing perfect, etc.. Not a speck of any sort of wear. Base price on it was $770.00, but shipping and transfer fee added some to that. I feel like I did pretty well.

VERY nice, you'll enjoy that one!!

My first handgun was a 6" model 19 back in the early '80's. I will always have a special place in my heart for the Model 19, it's a superb revolver.

Can't classify it as a steal, but I think I paid no more than the going rate for these in this condition. I've always wanted one in this configuration, too. Just never picked one up before.

There's a guy on S&W Forum who came across a primo Model 27 tagged at $150.00 at a thrift shop that bought it, along with a bunch of other items, in a bulk purchase at an estate sale and had no idea its value.

It was mismarked as a Model 19, and the tag stated that the cylinder was stuck. It just needed the ejector rod to be screwed back in.

Very nice. I've always wanted one in that configuration.

It would look and feel good with some Ahrends finger groove boot grips in Cocobolo.

They're at the bottom left of this page.

it's interesting the differences in prices.
few years ago i purchased new in the box a 4inch and six inch model 19. Had all the stuff there including the original bill of sale from the early 70's at about 175 dollars.

Yeah, people are getting wise to the fact that the supply of pre-83 S&W revolvers in nice shape is drying up.

My FAVORITE. Version of the S&W 19. And I wouldn't sell mine for that price any day of the week! You did good.

I plan to use mostly the cheap stuff, i.e., LRN that I buy in bulk for range shooting.

PS Why the nasty comment about not being missed? If I post things you don't like to hear, just don't read my posts. Simple solution. Either that, or show us all, through facts and civil argumentation, why my posts are wrong. Hurling bombs in unrelated threads is just plain cowardly and a mark of poor character.

I agree about revolvers. There are some who argue that prices for the older classic revolvers are destined to go way down in the near future. The argument goes that the younger generations only shoot Glocks and such, and would never consider owning a revolver, and the older folks who appreciate them are dying off. I don't see it that way at all. I think it's just wishful thinking by folks who hope to hold off and wait for their prices to go down so they can snatch them up cheap.

Is it recessed? I can't recall the cutoff date, whether is was -4 or -5. I know they had one dash iteration where some were pinned, some recessed, and some pinned/recessed.

The 19's are a pretty slick unit, though it's a shame you're going to shoot such a nice specimen. Different strokes

Yeah S&W's are really dying off, PM me and I'll help ease your depreciating assets.
