Did Winchester ever offer the 94 with a Redfield receiver sight? I saw one for sale at a LGS. The salesman said the serial # indicated it was a 30s era rifle and the sight was a Winchester offered option.

This is a common ruse used by sellers of guns with "extras". I view hundreds of Winchesters per year and have studied them for decades. I learned a few things over the decades. Extras from the factory seldom if ever were single options. Most all were multi option guns. A 94 carbine was a poor mans gun and made for hard use. I don't recall seeing only a few ever custom ordered and these had many additional options. Next point, why would someone want to wait months for a custom sight on a standard rifle when a rifle purchased off the shelf could have the local gunsmith install an aftermarket sight within an hour. Just my decades of observation.
