Model 99 EG. If it were a 300 Sav it would be worth a couple of hundred USD. Depends on how bad you want a 250 Savage.

IIFC, the barrel should measure closer to 24". In today's gun market in Canada I don't see anything pictured that I would pay even $300. Tough market! Your call.

Alterations: drilled and tapped for scope bases on the side, drilled and tapped for scope bases at least once on top, holes for sling studs. In the US folks would pay $450 or $500 for that because it was a 250-3000, but nobody on this board would. Don't know the Canadian market, I'll bow to olgrouser's expertise.

No expertise Rory. Markets are somehow just dead unless you are giving the item away. Seven extra holes in a receiver kills my personal interest in any rifle [even a 250-3000.]

Ok thanks very much for the info,so even the studs and top mount holes are not original? Would this be a $400 CDN gun if no alterations had been made ?

That gun could easily bring 700 in the states in unaltered factory condition. Once you drill a hole in the wood you can subtract 25%, once you start drilling holes in the metal another 50%. 7 Holes? Jeeez... Bubba with a drill is the number one enemy of a guns market value.

For a hunter/shooter to be dragged outside on a snowy day, yeah, if it had but one set of holes- I could live with it if priced cheap enough. Two sets of scope holes, I would forget it at any price.

What Gnoahhh said... +1 And I'm a "hunter", not a "collector". Generally, hunters are not nearly as particular as collectors in MHO. Jus' my 2... Strength & Honor... Ron T.

Extra holes usually cost you about $100 a hole when it comes time to sell.

George, you could pack those holes with platinum and make them a little more valuable when it comes time to sell.

Still wouldn't make it worth the asking price. Lightfoot, she was right.
