Anyone own?
Too bad Browning does not do the 1885 in Swede, with the same quality wood as in the past, but satin finish for non-glare field use.

I have a Winchester mdl 70 Fwt in 6.5x55. I cut the bbl back to 20" and mounted it in a mannlicher stock. It is the favorite of my grandkids when they come out deer hunting!
Haven't seen a Win 1885 in 6.5x55, must not have made very many. Just found a Browning 260 Rem 1885, so bought it.

Just make your own. It's still cheaper than the outrageous money changing hands over various other 1885 iterations.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

Brick - how does she shoot? Specs? It was a 7mm Remington Magnum originally that I had re-barreled by McGowen to 6.5x55mm. Barrel is a 1-in-8" 28 inch octagonal (factory profile and length) and makes for a heavy damned package. Accuracy is great: 0.731" groups with 140 grain Hornady SPs over 43.0 grains of H4350 in Lapua brass (that I bought from you) at 2717 FPS.

Bricktop,
Nice work!
I've often wondered why you couldn't just re-barrel a High Wall with a light weight 24-26" tube like the Browning Low Walls have.
The fore end would be an issue that shouldn't be to hard to resolve or replace.
That would lighten the otherwise excellent High Wall package into something more reasonable.....
There's a cottage industry just waiting to be developed... IMO

Winchester is listing a Low Wall in the Swede. No, I haven't ever seen one, either A Low Wall in .30-30 would also be darn interesting.

I have not re barrelled my Browning 1885, but I have my Uberti. I made a drawing and modified the extractor. I am sure any gunsmith could do this on conditioned responses, but few that could figure it out on the first try.

BT, nice Swede. I'm on the hunt to find a donor or maybe have a CVA Apex barrel cut and stubbed and made into a Swede.
