Went with a Jr hunter on her first ever hunt. Sofie, my buddy Jack and I climbed around a mountain, about a mile. Set up on a lower promontory and immediately glassed up a herd of javalina in the basin even lower. Jack and Sofie spent a half hour stalking down, then 10 minutes waiting for the right shot. Clean heart shot at about 70 yards, 70gr TSX over TAC, 223, 8 twist... dead pig. Here's Jack setting up his glass from up high, I actually picked these pigs up with my 8X32s immediately then setup my 15s on a tripod. I stayed high until the shot, then boogied on down. Yes public land in Az, it was a designated Jr hunt, ages 10 to 17, for a specific unit, I think there was 30 tags and still a couple leftover even up to yesterday, this unit is quite rough. This was a get your feet wet and some chili meat hunt.
