In my 25 WSSM, AR, every bullet I have tried with W760 just seems to tighten right up!

I like it!

It was the answer in my 30'06 as well. Wish there were more load data published for it so I could try it in some others.

I just had to reply to that link Bend!

Anyway if no one wants to look at the reply, short of it is, it may well be close enough but when switching lots of the same powder one could possibly expect a 10% max difference. So if swapping be very careful.

Blammer-- getting close on the trip. I'm on call that week, I'll try to work something out to run over there, maybe one morning during the week-- IE Friday maybe?? If you are running ball in the wssm, dont' run max loads for down here. Suspect you are as hot as we are but expect the daytime temps to be 100 give or take in the shade. 95 if lucky. And ball powders can be heat sensitive for sure. Varget continues to amaze me as to how consistent it can be in severe heat. Tac has done ok but others that I run, I have to be careful of. But remember if you do run into trouble cool the ammo. Keep it in a cooler, a bit of ice. or dunk the loaded rounds in ice water. Works wonders. BTDT.

Your caution statement is warranted and is stated several times in the other thread. That's why I had the "?" mark and not H414, so people would look. Also, dogcatcher223 was invloved in the other thread. Guess if forgot the smily.

thanks for the tip rost, on the heat.

I was out testing some loads today in 95 degree weather.

Was running W760 from min to max and didn't show any signs of excess pressure.

I am specifically testing my guns in HOT weather.

not sure my pards are... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> more hogs for me if they can't shoot in the day!

friday am? I think we may be heading back starting sometime Fri to get home on Sat... We'll know a bit better once we get there. I'll PM you my cell #.

Here is a pic of W760 with the 120 gr Speers that didn't shoot so good with other powder. (plus I think the barrel may have settled a bit...)

Blammer - Just got back from Montana and it was in the high 90's/low 100's, EVERYDAY for 4 full hunting days.

As you know, I'm loading the 50 gr. VMax's with H335. This particular load, shot at home @ exactly 80 degrees, didn't show any pressure signs with the addition of the extra 20 degrees we had in Montana. Pretty lucky, to be sure. I'll take it. There will probably be no better test than this trip with those temps.

I used up the last 500 rounds of the BH's 50 grainers and then started using my loads using 50 grainers @ about 150 fps faster than the factory. I had to drop 8 clicks on my Leupie 6.5 X 20 LR 30mm to have the same POI as the factory load @ 200 yds. A 2,270 foot gain in elevation plus 20 degrees does make a difference. At my range, it would have called for only 3 clicks. Whether or not these changes in clicks fits the "book" or not, my targets (100, 200 and 250 yds.), GPS (for elevation) and temperature gauge, don't lie. Pretty remarkable.

Good luck with your results.
