I've owned Leica, Zeiss, Swarovski, Minox, Nikon, Kowa, Leupold and still have the Leupold 12-40x60mm.

Pack friendly is a must but very long range clarity is also a must
I'll probably call Doug soon You're asking for the best of both worlds there. Typically a smaller scope body will be short, reducing focal length, limiting magnification capability. Along with that a smaller objective lens will limit your available exit pupil, reducing the amount of available light, clarity. If small is a must, you will sacrifice long range capability unless optimum conditions exist. Don't ignore the plugs for the Pentax, especially with the fixed eyepieces, they are stellar

I didn't see it mentioned on a quick scan, but :
the Minox 62 ED with the 21-45 extended eye relief eyepiece has served me well

You'll pay a bit more on the 62mm if it has the APO glass. Decent spotter, but modern optics are catching up to the same or better quality for cheaper. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth..._FS_Leica_Televid_62mm_Spott#Post9295312

[quote=Tanner]Vortex Viper HDs do not compare to the Leupold Gold Ring HD, especially on the top end.

Is the HD worth paying the difference for? Having compared them side by side, I'd say yes.

I tried to buy it......I offered a F2F for inspection but the seller didnt want to make time to show the scope
He admitted it really needs the 27x eyepiece to be a great optic but these are all gone
