I plan to go to Wyoming or Nevada for the 2015 hunting season. Before I hire a guide or outfitter, I figured I would give a .com friend a chance for me to pay someone here rather than a pro. PM me if you have any ideas.

Literally any decent chunk of BLM has antelope on it. You might find another non-resident with points and piggy back on theirs by applying as a a party.

If the person is not licensed with the state is probably illegal to pay them to guide/outfit your hunt.

If you are willing/wanting to pay and the hunt has to be next year I'd look at landowner tags in NV and/or UT. 'Twould be about the same hunt as WY and a much closer drive.

If Wyoming and no points call Ross Adney www.beavertrapoutfitters.com I've taken a couple buddies out a few years ago rifle antelope (our pics are on there. I'm the good looking one!) I shot a couple bears with him took a buddy out bear hunting another time and I can't say enough good about Ross. Low pressure just easy fun guy to hunt with. Check out his website or give him a call.

Be sure to tell him I sent you!

Hunting antelope with an outfitter is like hiring a 70 year old hooker. You can do just as good of a job by yourself.

Do a little research on units. Call Game and Fish. They are surprisingly helpfull. If you have no points buy the special tag and put in for a unit with good access. Once drawn, buy a GPS chip from hunt maps. Ride, glass, shoot an antelope or few on public land.

Three of us did just that this year. 3 guys, 3 good pronghorn, and a helluva time. Never had been there before. Just did the research.

This sounds like some great advice. Did you guys drive out there?

We did. I didn't feel like messing with the airlines and truck rentals this go around. It really isn't a bad drive, just long. We took in some experiences along the way.

In the future, I will send the rifles UPS to a shop, fly out and rent a 4x4.

Absolutely perfect advice.

Only someone who needs a million dollar hubbel space telescope to hunt deer (when a fixed 6 would work just as well) could mess this up wink .

In all seriousness Ringman I've done this a couple of times and had great success. If I can do it I am positive you can!

As a matter of fact, I've found the research and planning to be a large portion of the fun and that it really builds excitement!

Shoot me a PM if you'd like to hear my methods.

merry christmas to y'all!
