I should clarify. I wasn't arguing with the seller. I was arguing with the people that were willing to pay such stupid prices.

If somebody had some coins, or some stock, and for a variety of reasons the value of those coins or stock went up 500%...or even more...nobody would fault them for selling their stuff at those higher prices.

It's the demand, and prices other people are willing to pay that adds to the lack of reasonably priced .22lr.
When these idiots stop paying those prices, then shelves will start being stocked again.
As long as there is the wide profit margin in it, the underhanded scalpers will continue to dwindle the stock before it hits the shelves.
