wind was really blowing this morning so hunting was rough; gusts over 20MPH plus 16 degree temps put the wind chill at -2, squirrels we saw were mostly on the ground, not the trees, and we didnt see nearly as many as we usually do.

the creekbottoms we hunt tend to flood often and had standing water which froze so we didn't sneak up on much with the ground crunchy & noisy.... my son and i hunted together and when we startled squirrels we'd each get on opposite sides of the tree they run up so no matter where the squirrel went one of us would get a shot.

had saw hogs the other day so i decided to hunt with the .22 mag instead of a .22 or a .17 ; my .22mag T-Bolt shoots the Speer Gold Dot short barrel personal protection loads really well and it is the best load i've tried as far as accuracy in that rifle but when you make body shots, those thing are dramatic on squirrels.

bagged a few squirrels, saw quite a few deer, and brother in law took a shot at a running coyote.

My son in law wanted to go this morning. Weather was terrible, 20-30 mph winds, sleet and rapidly dropping temperatures. I saw one squirrel and it didn't offer a shot. The son in law saw about a dozen on the flip side of the ridge from me but couldn't seem to kill one. He jumped a nice buck and did kill a crow but no squirrels. We will wait for the decent weather and get back after them.

Edit: That sure is a pretty little T-bolt!

That one is one of the Maple stocked guns that Browning did as a limited run; when my local shop got those in i was able to dig through his inventory and found a set in .22LR and .22mag that had some decent lumber on them.....trigger pull is a touch heavy on those but they do shoot well.

That's a sharp stock, and I like those squirrel carriers. Did you make them yourself? Sounds like a fun day!
