Yesterday was an almost perfect morning. AL rut kicking in, up the mountain well before daylight, light dusting of snow, leaves so loud he could be heard long before I could see him. Only downside was how long the trek/climb in was vs how short the hunt turned out to be. Sun rising over the edge of the bluff that he's about to be dragging me down a few minutes later!

Still no sign of the rut down south. Come on up late on Thurs 1/29 and hunt that Friday and Saturday with me if you've got time. Now you killed a buck are you coming to slay some pork in TX? Can't do it this year. I was probably only going to stop by for a visit in TN this year, but TX is an all or nothing so I gotta go nothing this year. I am sorry I'm going to miss it and all the good folks. Thanks guys.

My worst season ever ended at 06:45 opening morning. I had 9 days scheduled.
Now the perfect season always ends on the last day.

Thanks guys. I should mention, it's not the end of the season. Still two more bucks and a doe a day until the end of January.
Clint, come on up. I'll send you a pm.
Bob,
Yeah, the NE corner is full of mountains. End of the appalachian mountains. Acutally they run down to Birmingham but get lower the further south in the state they go. They aren't super high, but are plenty rough.

Yep, good eye... It's a stainless M7 action with a stainless Douglas #2 chambered in .308 with cerakote. Edge stock, DNZ mounts, 6x42, and UM's mt sling. One of my favorite rifles. You can see it a little better in this one:

The barrel is 22" and it is 6.5 lbs scoped. Jay, Nice buck hope all is well. Things are good, hope you and your gang are doing well. No TN hog hunt this year so I'll miss getting to see you. We'll have to get together and burn some powder this spring.

Need some ideas for my WBY MK V ULW 30-06 I bought from Wes 7x57 here on 24 HR and also a Alabama Boy Generic load, 150 grain ballistic tip with 46.5 grains of Varget. In full length sized brass with the same seating depth it shoots under an inch in 4 different .308's. I've yet to stop one of the 150 BT's in a deer. That one went through both shoulders at around 60 yards, deer went straight down.
