Just installed my first set of Talley QD rings. Followed the instructions for both bases and rings per torque specs etc.
Question.....the last thing one torques on the QD rings are the upper two small screws on each ring. When that is done will there be a gap at the top between each ring when done?
Thanks..........

Maybe. If there is it will be small and won't hurt anything. Be careful you don't crush your scope. I have done that with Talley QD's.

Thanks...I have not torqued down the top screws as of yet. Just slighly tightened and there is a gap presently.
Little concerned now if one can crush the scope with Talley QD's. I might want to rethink mounting choice.

You can crush scopes with a bunch of different rings. The danger is in over-torquing the rings.

Thanks John. I followed the instructions for both bases and rings....I mounting a Nikon Monarch African 1.1x4x24 Illuminated (30mm) scope on a Model 70 .458 Super Grade. Only difference is I'm using the levers on the bottom instead of the large screw. I'm assuming you turn those till tight and facing each other per instructions? Not sure how to measure 35 lbs by hand.
So essentially if one makes sure the following specs are spot on, scope should be fine?
Torque recommendations: Check the torque recommendations for your particular rifle scope before using these recommendations ...For the Talley Lightweight Alloy Mounts: 20-25 in-lb for the base and 15-20 in-lb for the rings. ........Talley Premium Steel Rings and Bases: bases 20-25 in-lb. Fixed rings, bottom screw 35 in-lb, top screw 15-20 in-lb. Detachable rings: large bottom screw 35 in-lb, small bottom screws 30 in-lb, top screws 15-20 in-lb. If you use a thread locking adhesive then we suggest that you use a NON-permanent formula.

You should be fine. Here is mine on a M70 with a 2.5-8.

Here's what it looks like. First two pictures...right and left side. Third photo eye relief distance. As I mentioned 30mm scope with Talley Low QD's. Bolt clears just fine. http://s98.photobucket.com/user/SS30ANV/media/458scope_zps1fe3af2d.jpg.html] http://s98.photobucket.com/user/SS30ANV/media/458scope1_zpsd4293bec.jpg.html] http://s98.photobucket.com/user/SS30ANV/media/458scope2_zps4e182609.jpg.html]
