Saw an ad for the Ruger 3" LCRX. Looked pretty handy for an all around handy piece to keep in the truck or what not. Anyone shot/handled one yet?

I agree, just as I start thinking about cutting back I keep figuring out there are a few more that "make sense". I believe this is one.

I have not fired one, but I have handled one and it is very sweet in the hand. I like the full length grip very well, and anticipate bringing one home after the hog hunt.

I was just thinking the other day that my 3" sp101 was a little heavier on the belt than I'd like while bumming around the farm...

I see them for around $400 on GB. I'll probably have to have one of these. Seems like a good one to have around.

Didn't Taurus do a knock off of these with the 605 Poly Protector? I handled both of them at a gun shop and they seemed remarkably similar. I ended up ordering a 605 on an auction. The Taurus has a .357 chamber. I shot it a little last week just screwing around with .38 Special reloads. Shoots pretty good but I can't hit anything very well due to an eye problem. A lot less money too. Of course, some people hate Taurus. I have never had any trouble with them and I have a lot. I thought I had a problem with my Judge and .410 shells. Measured the rims and they vary greatly in thickness in certain brands. I just use the ones that work.

I'd like a 357 Mag as well. But if I were Ruger I'd come out with a 22LR first, then a 22 Mag, then the 357 Mag. People are always waiting for the next bigger model. If people have to wait too long they will cave and buy a 38+P, when the market is full with the 38 THEN and only then will the 357 Mag come out. But I hope I'm wrong.

I'll probably end up with the .38 version.

Took me a while to figure it out, but the 38 is far more useful than any 22LR. Especially nowadays.

Agreed - I'm wanting one in .38 also. I've been interested in the smaller LCR you've posted on and just recently saw this. Thoughts on one vs. the other? I've seen them available online, but not locally - have you seen any yet? The smaller version seems readily available locally...

I would love to see one in 22mag.

I have S&W 360 in 357, and one advantage of a 22 over the 38/357 is for backpacking is that you can carry 50 or 100 rounds without adding pounds to your pack.

I have a Smith 360 PD, I only shot it a few times when I first purchased it to make sure it functioned properly, it was a handfull but nothing I couldnt handle, I bought the 360 for a CC gun and I like the added horsepower of the 357 Mag......This new Ruger LCRX would be basically a trail gun for Me and not for target shooting,I would have it loaded with full power 158 grain 357 Mag loads..............Hb

I like the original LCR for concealed carry but I think the new 3" LCRx version is gonna be a home run for a trail/kit gun.

Put a tritium front on it and it should be perfection IMO.

Haven't been to my local shop lately. Will check Saturday.

Worked late last night and swung by the Whorhouse (Sportsmans) right at closing time to look at the snubbie. SONOFABITCH is right - they just got 3" LCR in!

Oh - there's no longer any available locally... grin
