Well, I plan on working with the 210 ABLR's some in my son's new to him 300 Weatherby. I was able to grab some of the 210 ABLR 2nds on SPS, so I figured it would really push them big bullets real nice. I am an avid user of RL22, RL25 and 7828, so with a couple quick looks at QL, those powders seem to do real well with that cartridge and bullet. Nosler has some good data on their online guide as well for 22, 4831 and 4350. All of those would be fine with me as well. It really looks like 2900 or better is an attainable goal.

Any thoughts or advice on seating? I know I won't be reaching the rifling with the bullets, should I just load for Noslers 3.560" COAL and work from there? Also, any of you with already known good loads I'd love to hear about them.

And, the golden question, who has used the 210 ABLR on game. This rifle will be set up strictly for elk. I am sure it'll get used for other stuff, but elk is the main piece of the puzzle. Love to hear some reports, if they are out there.

Hey Beretz, work up to 84 gr Retumbo with that bullet in the 300 WBY, ran my COL at 3.650" and a velocity of 3100 fps, an ass smokin' load and a half, never hit any game with it, but results would be 'hard dead critters'

Shot it out of a factory Mark-V in Classic-Mark II, a beautifully accurate rifle that I miss dearly.

Wow, thanks for the heads up Gunner. I thought I might be able to touch 3000, but never thought 3100 was in the realm of possible.

Guess I'll have to try some Retumbo now that I have been guilted into it..

Bet that load will "talk to you".

Be advised that gunner is "recoil proof". He plinks with some real serious big boomers...

Good points gents. To be totally honest, I would be just fine with anything in the 2900-3000 range. 3100 would be some kinda fierce I think. The rifle is braked, so I guess we shall see once we get to shooting it.

That brake will help. My .300 WM Ed Brown Damara is a light rifle, under 7#'s before scope. With the brake, it kicks about like a .308.

Gunner doesn't like brakes, doesn't kick enough...

This is the Japanese MK5 Lightweight.. Never had a MK5 before, so I am learning as I go..

Those are well made and strong with good barrels.

Here's a MkV in a McWoody Wby. Express, 7RM with 24", #2 Brux. I like this stock.

Also, the way I pull the trigger with the tip of my finger, the bolt knob kept bumping my finger between the knuckles. I called Wby, asking if I could heat and bend the bolt handle, wanted to know if the bolt handle was a single forging with the bolt body or brazed on. Of course, the tech thought I was crazy and discouraged such things.

I finally came to the realization that I could remove the part of the bolt knob that bumped my finger. I took a Sharpie and marked what needed to come off, ground and filed the bolt knob as shown. I polished and blued the cut surface.

You can't see the alterations from the side.

Very nice DF. I dig that stock and like the alteration on the bolt knob.

I hear good things about the Japanese MK5's, so we shall see once we get it put on paper. I have 1 box of Norma 165 Oryx's I picked up for cheap on Midway for my son for Christmas. We will use those and assess it a little. Plus, it should let us get it rough zeroed for the load work with the 210's.

Did the same type treatment to my 700 BDL 26 Nosler. I think I'll Cerakote this one after hunting season.

I could see my 7mm Rem Model 70 getting a similar treatment.. Makes sense to me. The knurling on the Model 70 will eventually rub the skin on my paw when shooting prone.

Yeah, the 26 Nosler doesn't kick very much, but enough for the rough, checkered bottom of that bolt knob to want to take the bark off my trigger finger. Most of this is when shooting from the bench, not that much of a problem out hunting.

The only thing on the bottom of that bolt knob now, is smooth, polished steel.

Actually it runs a good bit past 3100, but as always, working up and letting your rifle tell ya what it wants/likes is the best bet going.

It is just a hair over 24" prior to the brake.

Thanks for the heads up Gunner. I am just waiting on some bullets to show up. Got the scope mounted up on it, so it's ready to run..

LOL, I'll need to roll one with my 8 Bore to exceed bullet weight and diameter.

Good deal Beretz, that will work, after all it's the least I can do for stealing your load for the 348 Winchetser, i use the RL-17 but only have the heavy jacketed 250 gr Barnes original bullets.

Bought BSA's old rifle and am only running them to 2355 fps, I gotta believe that will work inside of 200 long yards on any critter short of cape buff.

It'll be interesting to see if you can get them shooting with the Weatherby free-bore. My experience with 7mm LRAB was that my VLD throated barrels shot them, and those that I couldn't approach the lands stunk up the place.
