Very nice collectible that looks like it was just taken out of cardboard box. It's good thing as you probably read this cartridge brings tears into some mens eyes that shoot it.

To me that is the pinnacle of the good old days of hunting, or the 264 or 338. Gorgeous rifle.

Nice rifle Don. Looks damn near perfect....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Isn't it cool to find something old that is in great shape and is exactly what you want?!!! How "new" is it, and are you going to shoot it and hunt it?

This should be considered part of investment portfolio and should not be shot. Shooting that would be like mailing a letter using rare and collectible stamp.

How much you think it will be worth in 30 years if left in the safe? How much will it be worth in today dollars? You think future generations will be all that keen on pre64 70's? How many years you have left? Stamps have a one time use originality and it is over. Pre64 70's the same? They used to shoot them at the factory, so this one has probably already been shot at least 3 times. Probably more.
What is the value of enjoying what you have while you can?
I obviously don't agree. Life is short. Work is for the retirement portfolio, stamps and art are for looking at and rifles are for using.

Damm straight, mine have all been used, for hunting and wilderness work in Grizzly country. I look after them, but, I DO USE them as that is what they were designed and built for.

Snap, rifles are more like race cars than art. They don't build them to sit in the garage and they have to run them to see what they have. If they don't run or shoot up to a standard they get cast aside.

I will NEVER shoot this rifle and nor will I ever shoot most of the other pre-64s that I have squirreled away. I have other rifles to kill stuff. donsm70

Then it's reason for existence is now presently being wasted.
But like many things, it will be here longer than you. So there is still hope.
