Thought I found the Holy Grail, but nooooo.... grin

Walked into a local shop on the way back from Home Depot this afternoon. It is a pawn shop and they have their handguns on a printed list and bring out what you want to see.

Searching the list I saw a S&W 686 and asked to see it hoping it was a 4 inch model. Well, the guy brings out a blued 6 inch Smith. I thought the tag must be wrong but under the crane it read 686-3 hmmm.

Got back to work and got on the 'net. Found out it was one of just over a couple thousand stainless 686's in 1989 that were blued and sold as midnite black.

Woohoo!!! a rare highly sought after firearm was gonna fall in my lap.

Well...

After a bit of searching I found they brought the same price as a standard 686.

Dang... the thoughts of finding a holy grail dashed. frown

However...

the Colt Police Special was interesting.... grin

I found my 686 cs-1 in a pawn shop. Neither the shop nor I knew what it was at the time. At least I don't thing they did because the price didn't reflect it. But I figured it out pretty quickly when I researched the crane markings. That was my 1st Smith.

I always enjoy seeing people getting bit by the smith collecting bug. Ask Joe about that.

i was out at cabella's again today snooping around. The library had a bunch of semiauto's, and some single action revolvers. Not one smith in there, haven't seen them for sale in months in there. It's like they all disappeared.

Man Joe has some nice Smiths for sure, he also has trouble walking away from a decent one!
