Ever consider the Creedmoor if going 6.5? It is a sweet cartridge....

A friend just fitted a Rock #2 to my pre64 featherweight action. 6.5-06 with 3/4" shank at 23". Still need to open up the barrel channel on the hunters edge stock from the original featherweight inlet, but am thinking I'll like it... will become my all around AZ backpack hunt rifle.
Too close for irons, switching to scope...

From everything I have heard that quality is still up to snuff with Dan overseeing things and they are focusing on producing barrels again instead of chasing large gov't contracts.

How does a Rock #2 compare to a standard Rem sporter?

I was in Dan's shop (MullerWorks) on Sunday and was told the same. Dan's been with Rock for quite a while and has some 'skin in the game'. That said, while he's trying to branch out on his own, it's a slow process, and he still has a strong commitment to Rock.
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

How does a Rock #2 compare to a standard Rem sporter? Quite a bit smaller. I'll try and get a pic.

Maybe not "quite a bit". Different contours for sure though! Bad pic's, but you should get the idea. The Rem sporter is about .67 from the end of the stock to the muzzle at 22". The Rock tapers it entire length to about .59 at 22"
