You can't possibly be able to compete with a Sightron on top. ..............
Just kidding, I had a S2 6x HBR on top of my M77/22 for years. Great scope for the money but i replaced it with something smaller when my son started walking the woods with the rifle. There was a thread in the optics department just a couple weeks ago asking about Sightron and I couldn't get over how many folks didn't rate them well but probably never ever used one. Your picture just confirms to me that a guy with a first class set up like your rifle and uses a Sightron, well they can't be too bad now can they.

That photo was taken at the 2011 World Rimfire Benchrest Championship in Summerville SC in August and it was HOT!. Usually I can't use a Sightron on my sporter cause in the US our sporter weight limit is 7.5 lbs, which my rifle won't make with that Sightron. At the World Championship the weight limit was 8.5 lbs and so I was able to put it on. Normally I have to use the lighter Burris 6X HBR scorpe (discontinued). On both my heavy (10.5 lb) rifles I use the Sightron 36X scopes. They are clear enough and the accuracy of their scope adjustments are among the best - IMO. I've had lots of success with them.

Here's one of my heavy guns with a Sightron on top. This is a Stiller 2500X, with a Meredith Stock and Rock Creek barrel.

i sold that Sightron back when i changed my rifle to a squirrel whacker for my son and now i wished i had kept it because i picked up a heavy barreled 10/22 set up just a couple weeks ago and it would be perfect for it. i knew better back then but money was tight at the time so i pay the price now.

coop, what is the top on your Hart rest? Make, source?

I have a similar rig, but not a top like yours. A local group has recently started shooting smallbore benchrest. I also got a Sinclair speed screw like yours, and wish I had done so sooner.

Paul, that's a Fudd top that was made by Mountain Specialties. As far as I know, the guy stopped making them. It has skinny sand bag tubes on the bottom and sides (to make it legal) and is width adjustable so I can go from my sporter (2 1/2" wide) to my heavy guns (3" wide) and not change the top. I like them but not too many rimfire BR shooters use the Hart base or the Fudd top anymore. The Randolph rest designed by Ken Fulghum is probably the most popular base now. I've never seen the need to change tho. This has been my set-up for over 10 years.

You can get a good look at the Fudd top here: http://www.accurateshooter.com/gear-reviews/randolph-machine-belt-drive-front-rest/

Sorry for the thread drift.
